Grand Opening at the Cornell Art Museum
The Downtown Development Authority (DDA) reopened the Cornell Art Museum at Old School Square on December 28 with a public Grand Reopening Reception featuring the "Surfing Florida Exhibition" in collaboration with the Surfing Florida Museum. The exhibition highlights South East Florida’s rich surfing history through archive photographs, historic surfboards, surfing themed artwork and special feature exhibit by the Skateboarding Heritage Foundation.
The opening was a great success thanks to the hundreds of Surfing Florida Museum members and many new faces attending and supporting the organization. Surfing Florida Museum is beyond excited and grateful for this opportunity. Please enjoy these photos from the event.
The Cornell Art Museum on the Old School Square campus is located at 51 N. Swinton Avenue, Delray Beach, FL 33444. It is the original Delray Elementary School building built in 1913 which the City of Delray Beach purchased from the Palm Beach County School District in 1987. The building was named after benefactors George and Harriet Cornell in 1990 and renovated in 2017. The Cornell Art Museum, as well as the rest of the Old School Square campus, is owned by the City of Delray Beach and operated and managed by the Delray Beach Downtown Development Authority.
